U4-U5

U4-U5 GRASSROOTS OUTDOOR SOCCER PROGRAM

U4–U5 soccer is often a child’s first experience with organized sport, and at TRSA our priority is to make that experience positive, confidence-building, and fun. This program is designed to support young players and the volunteer coaches who step onto the field with them.

Program Structure

Weekly sessions are developed and facilitated by an experienced youth development coach, with activities designed in alignment with Alberta Soccer Association (ASA) Grassroots best practices.

Each session follows a guided, play-based format where:

  1. The lead coach sets the structure, flow, and activities for the session

  2. Volunteer coaches support and guide players at stations

  3. Children rotate through age-appropriate activities focused on movement, ball familiarity, and playful learning

  4. One station includes a small-sided game to encourage exploration and enjoyment of game play

This approach allows sessions to remain consistent, well-structured, and developmentally appropriate, while still feeling fun and engaging for players and their families.

Please note: Families are asked to be available for two of the three session times. While we will do our best to accommodate your preferred playing day and time, final placement will depend on player numbers, volunteer availability, and field capacity. After registration closes, families will be contacted and invited to submit their top two preferred playing times.
