Return to Train Announced

Alberta has announced changes to public health restrictions, meaning Soccer is able to start up again in line with these new rules.

When does this start?

Effective June 1, soccer teams consisting of eight players and two officials will be able to start practice again. If vaccination thresholds and hospitalization numbers meet the targets, the middle of June may allow larger numbers to practice together.

What restrictions remain in effect?

Coaches are still required to be masked at all times. Players are required to be masked on arrival and maintain social distancing throughout the practice.

Are there other steps being taken to ensure public health is prioritized?

Yes. Coaches are being provided with additional information about leading outdoor soccer practice and adhering to public health restrictions. This is a mandatory requirement for coaches. More information is available on our website at TRSA.ca.

When does the ‘season’ end?

The ‘season’ (or practice sessions) will run from June 1 to June 30, subject to public health restrictions.

Are we playing any games?

Not at this stage. The current health restrictions still require the players to socially distance themselves and the team numbers remain small. In mid-June, we may enter stage 2 of Alberta’s open for summer plan, but this does not necessarily mean games will be allowed. We will continue to monitor any updates from the Alberta government and Alberta Soccer Association, and post updates as soon as we receive them. All players U9 to U19 are eligible to have the games portion of their fee refunded, and we will refund this amount at the end of June. Players U4 to U7 are not eligible for refunds.

What happens next?

Your coach has already been contacted to arrange equipment pick up and will contact you with further details.

Thank you to all our dedicated coaches, players, volunteers, families, and partners who remain committed to providing kids with a chance to be active while still following public health guidelines. Have fun on the pitch!

Cheers,

TRSA Board of Directors.
